The Absolute Sound and Audio Ark agree.

Posted on February 28th, 2015

The 2015 Editors Choice Awards edition of The Absolute Sound makes for some interesting reading. I am happy to report that many of the brands that we carry made very strong showings. Magnepan received a remarkable seven awards with Vienna Acoustics a little way back with a very respectable four accolades. Other brands that fell under the gaze of the editors include, ProJect, Shunyata, Focal, Audio Research, REL, Zesto, and Meridian. Even the lowly Klipsch Heresy III, a personal favourite, got a nod from the editors! Isn’t it nice to know that many of these lauded products are available for local audition?

Shunyata MPC-12 in stock

Posted on February 17th, 2015

I am feeling a little lazy today, so I will “borrow” from the Shunayata site. “The MPC-12 is Shunyata’s most complete, multi-function, high-current power distributor. Essentially, the MPC-12 contains two completely separate power conditioners starting from the power inlet. The MPC-12 uses Shunyata’s finest Filter arrays within the analog section to reduce noise and enhance performance while still allowing for maximum current-delivery to even the most power hungry amplifiers. The MPC-12 was designed specifically to segregate or “firewall” the computer and digital related components — preventing them from polluting the performance of your high-end analog components.” Priced at $3369 with a Venom HC power cord as standard equipment.

Joe Grado Passes Away

Posted on February 9th, 2015

Our industry has lost a true original; Joe Grado has passed at the age of 90. Joe Grado will always be remembered for inventing the stereo moving coil cartridge and, as a result, will have his place along the industry’s true innovators. Personally, I have happily sold Grado for twenty years and the brand has been part of the Audio Ark family since we began. Joe’s legacy will live on with the current generation of cartridges and headphones. Our thoughts are with the Grado family at this time. Joe, thank you! A lovely tribute has been written by Herb Reichert in Stereophile.
