Sadly, another one that got lost in the Christmas shuffle. Pro-Ject’s flagship Phono Box RS ($949.00) is an absolute stunner! At this price, the list of features is nothing short of remarkable: fully balanced design; three selectable gain positions; variable impedance to accurately load a moving coil cartridge; switchable RIAA and Decca EQ curves; RCA and XLR inputs and outputs. England’s Hi-Fi Choice gave the RS 5 stars in all categories (sound, value, build and features). Not too shabby for under a grand!

If the truth be told, the staff here at the Ark were a little dismayed at Denon’s decision to discontinue the previous AHD range of headphones. In addition, preliminary information and photos of their replacements didn’t actually excite us. Well Denon, we forgive you! The AH-D7100 ($1299.99 ea. MSRP) are a sumptuous listen; rich, smooth, non-fatiguing and uber-comfortable. We haven’t had a chance to spend time with the AH-D600 ($549.99 ea. MSRP) yet, but the internet buzz on these guys has been pretty strong; we’ll keep you posted. Better yet, pop down for a listen and decide for yourself.
