Focal Sopra

With one model (Sopra No.1) already here and two more on the way (no guesses here; Sopra No.2 & No.3) I felt it high time to make this announcement. Cambridge CXU Universal

More than a little interested in this one myself. The CXU is in the heir apparent to the multi-award winning 752BD. The new styling is just the tip of the iceberg. On the video side the CXU brings 4K upscaling and DARBEE Visual Presence technology to the table. Five Wolfson WM8740 DACs, proprietary ATF audio upsampling (Adaptive Time Filtering) and the ability to function as a top class streamer, round out the audio side. Having thoroughly enjoyed 2 or so years with the 752BD, it might just be time for an upgrade. $1699.00 MSRP.

Shunyata Signal Cables

Well the wait is over. After much gnashing of teeth and wringing of hands, Shunyata’s Venom interconnect and speaker cables have landed. I believe we first heard of this project some eighteen months ago; at times I had almost forgotten about them. I know Grant from Shunyata wouldn’t even talk about them! Anyway, that’s all in the past; they are here and dutifully breaking in for evaluation later this week. Full report to follow.

Bluesound V.2 is here!

For the V2 models, Bluesound have upgraded the popular Node, PowerNode and Vault. For V2, these models have had major sonic and ergonomic improvements. Also, portable streaming options have been increased with the additions of the Pulse Flex (yet to arrive) and Pulse Mini. Click here and here for further information.

REL Ti Series has landed

The highly anticipated and recently improved Ti series of Sub bass systems have landed at the Ark. While the TZero remains unchanged, the T5, T7 and T9 all receive “i” designations. All facets of these woofers have been improved; redesigned drivers (or bass engines as REL call them), enhanced cabinet construction and refined Class A/B amplifier boards. Even the feet got upgraded!
