The rLink digital to analogue converter is the perfect “little black box” to upgrade just about any digital source.  Its simple “plug and play” installation make it the obvious choice to improve that dodgy sounding BluRay player, aging cd spinner or create a nifty music server with an Apple TV.  Connect the rLink with a digital cable (Toslink or coaxial – not included), add a pair of your favourite interconnects (not included) and you’re set.  Simply sit back and enjoy!  Regular MSRP $259.00; now just $220.00.

Unison Research Simply Italy.

Posted on June 11th, 2013

I have to say I’m smitten; the Simply Italy ($2495.00) has to be one of the sweetest things I’ve heard in some time. Twelve glorious watts (yes, that’s right, 12!) of vacuum tube goodness might not seem like much but it’s just magic to these ears.  With care and attention paid to speaker choice (and the choices are wider than you would think) this amplifier is a stunning music maker.

From a technological stand point, Unison have pulled a very clever sleight of hand.  As Unison build all transformers in house it is “possible to create an output stage …. consisting of one EL34 in a single-ended ultralinear configuration. This mode of operation for the output transformers allows the pentode EL34s to operate almost as if they were triodes.”  This is why it sounds oh so sweet.

Forget all those audiophile notions and just back a bask in the glow of 12  magical watts!

Bryston loudspeakers have arrived.

Posted on June 6th, 2013

When Bryston first showed the Model T in early 2012 it was unclear whether this product would be commercially viable or simply used for design purposes at the factory.   Thankfully, James Tanner, VP of Sales at Bryston, chose option one.

On display in our main sound room is a pair of Model T Signatures with outboard PX-1 crossover modules, bespoke wiring loom and outrigger platforms.  Grand total for this bundle is $10045.00 plus GST.

I’ll side step all the superlatives and hyperbole and suggest you make very effort to come and take a listen.  Bring lots of LPs and CDs; I have a feeling you might be staying for a while.
