This turntable makes use of a traditional plinth design (think Linn Sondek LP12) which was established by the famous turntable manufacturers of the 50′s and 60′s. It uses a compact simple and elegant form factor. The Classic incorporates a combination of approved belt drive design using a low noise AC motor with an ultra precision frequency DC-driven AC generator for ultimate speed stability. Advanced technology is used for decoupling and features a completely new tonearm design.

The LS28 line stage is a flexible and intuitive preamplifier. Four balanced and four single-ended inputs, and two sets of both balanced and single-ended outputs, allow maximum connectivity. The straightforward menu allows control of numerous parameters, including input naming, tube hours, auto shutdown, and home theater passthrough. Phase invert and mono are also standard functions. At the heart of the LS28 are four 6H30 vacuum tubes in the analog circuit. While the LS28 is the perfect match for any Audio Research amplifier, it has been designed to work with nearly any amplifier on the market today.
This wonderful line stage preamplifier is now on permanent demonstration.

Who says CD playback is dead? Although high resolution digital downloads dominate the attention of audiophiles, many music lovers have hundreds or thousands of CDs that require the finest playback equipment to sound their best. Though universal disc players or DVD players can playback CDs, they certainly won’t resolve the full dynamic range and nuance the medium is capable of. Such players inherently compromise CD playback to support additional formats. The BCD-3 was engineered explicitly for the purpose of making your redbook CDs sound amazing.

Just a quick little note to bring you up to speed on what’s new at the Ark. The New Year has seen the arrival of Paradigm’s flagship Persona range. We have all models with the exception of the subwoofer. Additionally, we have examples of all finishes. Also new is the Audio Research LS28 linestage. We are breaking this unit in but initial impressions are extremely favourable.
In the coming soon column is Bryston’s BCD-3 compact disc player. Build around the DAC architecture of the awarding winning BDA-3, this red book player should be fantastic. Also around the corner will be new cables from Shunyata along with a Triton v.3.
Headphone fanciers will be seeing the Audioquest Night Owl and new NightHawk quite soon and, with a little luck, the latest addition to the Grado Heritage Series.
