We’re happy to announce Arcam’s class leading integrated amplifier is back in stock. At $1099, this 50 watt per channel is the best buy under $1500.00. Built to the same standards as the rest of the FMJ range, the A19 boasts a full, robust sound and comes equipped with a MM phono stage and very good on board headphone amp. To quote HiFi+ magazine, “Arcam rarely makes a dog’s breakfast of an amplifier, but there are good amps and there are good amps. This one is exceptional. This one is Arcam hitting it for six, knocking one out of the park, and all other vaguely sport-related cliches that point to something excellent.”

A big thank you to all who came down for our Shunyata event last night. I think we all had some fun and, thanks to Grant Samuelson (of Shunyata), we all went home a little smarter. Thank yous are also in order to Vines (Riverbend Wine Merchants), The Lingnan Restaurant and Special Event Rentals, for helping make this event a success. Finally, a big congrats to Frank G. who walked off with the grand prize of the Shunyata Venom PS-8, Venom HC power cord and Defender module. All other winners will be contacted over the next few days.

Due to major road work on 108th Avenue the main entrance to our parking lot is blocked. As is the north entrance to alley off 108th Ave. Additionally, the south entrance our alley is blocked (coming from 107th Ave.) What does this all mean for Wednesday evening? The only entrance to our parking lot will be from 124th street. The alley is located at the north west corner (front) of the store. It may be wise to call the store closer to the event for an update. Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

Way back in November of 1990 Stereophile reviewed the Meridian 203. Robert Harley was unequivocal in his praise for this unit stating, it “sets a new standard of performance ….” The 203 actually spent a few years in Stereophile’s Recommended Components (category Class B). At the time I was convinced and voted with my wallet. By now you’re asking what is the relevance of a 23 year old digital to analogue converter. Fast forward to the present and let us welcome the Director ($750.00), the heir apparent to that venerable class leader. Back when I purchased the 203, the dollar was in the tank and I bet I paid fifteen hundred-or so dollars. Thankfully, the passage of time has enabled Meridian to create a DAC that is half the price and probably smokes the 203 in all musically relevant categories.
